Call of Duty Video game

Call of Duty made its first appearance in the fourth quarter of 2003. Developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision Publishing, Inc., the original Call of Duty was available for personal computers (both Windows and Mac) and the most popular video games consoles of the time. Like all of the Call of Duty games that were to follow, the first Call of Duty game was a first-person shooter with a military theme - here the action took place in World War II.

Unlike many earlier first-person shooters that put the player in the shoes of a soldier and left him to battle against enemies single-handed, Call of Duty introduced an element of teamwork into the gaming experience. This reflected the fact that few World War II soldiers acted alone, but were most often part of a group.

The original Call of Duty game boasted what were, at the time, cutting edge graphics and audio. This, together with a rich storyline and engaging gameplay, made Call of Duty extremely popular, not only with the game-buying public, but with industry reviewers, several of who made Call of Duty their game of the year.

In 2005, Call of Duty 2 was launched to the same critical acclaim as the original. There were also several derivative Call of Duty titles for specific gaming consoles. Call of Duty 3 was released in 2006, and arguably the best game in the series so far, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, was released in 2007.

Video gaming technology has evolved at a rapid pace over the last few years, and so it is no surprise that the most recent Call of Duty games offer a richer and much more realistic experience than the original. This is not to say that the original Call of Duty game didn't offer a fantastic experience in its own right, but it has to be said that the sumptuous graphics and cinematic presentation of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is, aesthetically, a lot more impressive.

A sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is said to currently be in production, and should be released in the fourth quarter of 2009, some six years after the first Call of Duty game was introduced to the world.

In addition, fans of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare can already play their favourite game as an impressive online slots game. Not only does the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare slots game offer a rich and authentic Call of Duty gaming experience, it also give you a chance to win big money. If that doesn't sound like a Call of Duty well worth playing, we don't know what would.
